Elmer D. Milligan was the son of Andrew Francis MILLIGAN and Mary Jane FRIEND, born in Stansbury, Gentry Co. MO in 1877. His parents made the Run of '91, when the Iowa Lands were opened for settlement, homesteading in what is now Luther Township, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma In 1901, Elmer married Ina Moody and moved to western Oklahoma where new lands were being opened. I have an old studio portrait, taken in Detroit, MI -- which I'd judge to be pre-WWI. My grandaunt labeled as Elmer & Grace Milligan and children George, Elmer, and Maxine, so either "Grace" was a nickname or she was his second wife. His parents' obituaries [1912 and 1915] give Elmer's residence as Lead, SD. His sister's obituary [1934] gives it as Fulton SD. That's the last I have on any of this family.
