Hi all,
I found the culprit!!! Seems Illinois counties did some *radical* changing
and moving around.
In the years I was researching, the great majority of northern Illinois was
"Putnam" county. The county names change, and lines move around
unbelievably, through the early years!!!! Boone county was formed Mar.
1837. (see booklet: "Counties of Illinois: Their Origin and Evolution"
Issued by Alan J Dizon, Secretary of State [of Illinois]) You know the
saying, "when all else fails, read the 'manual'."
"Poor" Putnam county went from BIG to little. Good thing for me to know,
tho, cause I have lots of mentions of ancestors in "Putnam" counties over a
range of years. Here I thought they coincidently lived near each other in
"tiny" Putnam county!!! :) Now I have to go back and check years.

I do, however, really, really, have family in today's Putnam County.

Thanks to everyone who has helped with this.

Sue
