Subject: TELEGRAPH COMPANY 1906
Sender: roots-in@rootsweb.com

Willis Marley (aka William) MC LAUGHLIN and James BILLINGSLEA were murdered
in cold blood at Sierra Montoso in the Manzano Mountains of NM on 29 Sep
1906, while on a leisure trip, by two locals they had befriended.

Extensive news accounts of the day state that they were employed by the
telegraph company. MC LAUGHLIN was a resident of the local area for the past
three years and BILLINGSLEA and his bride were residents of Trinidad CO. MC
LAUGHLIN's wife and children were with her mother, Axie Parker GRAY in
Salida CO at the time of the murders.

Does anyone have any idea what telegraph company they may have been employed
by in that area at that time? BILLINGLEA's father worked as an agent for
Globe Express Company. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

Grateful for ANY help.

Pat Childs
