Greetings:
Several of you have asked about the advisability of submitting your files to
the World Family Tree Project. Here is my experience.
I do not object to the concept. Any means by which I can get my family info
out for other researchers I feel is an advantage.
Several months ago I submitted my entire family file (less than 1500 names)
on 23 diskettes to Broderbund. I have never received an acknowledgement so
this week I inquired as to the status. I was informed by Broderbund that my
file was too large and they could not handle it. Now, as most of you know,
1500 names is not a large genealogy file. Since they nag us (Family Tree
Maker users) at every chance to submit our files, it seems to me that they
should be able to handle a file of this size. After I went to the trouble of
making 23 diskettes and packaging and mailing the files to Broderbund, they
are doing nothing with them. That upsets me.
