Barbara,
There is very little need for CD caddies anymore. There are two
solutions for places like the FHCs and libraries:
  1. Large hard drives - provide high speed access, one set only
required, no chance of breakdown due to handling, can be
     updated, can be expanded
  2. Multi-CD changers - all CDs mounted at once, no handling, lower
cost than HD system but much slower, can be expanded, can be
updated by buying a new set of CDs - but only one set.

Both of these require using a single system as a server and networking
the lot. However, the cost is offset in the ease of maintenance, need
for duplicate CD drives, caddies, etc. Most libraries that I am familiar
with have already networked their computers together, so the server cost
and networking cost for them is moot.
