On 29-Dec-96, trims@tgn.net wrote to inquire about the
name KIT CARSON. I attended high school in La Junta CO
during 1923-27. I remember that KIT CARSON III was living
in La Junta at that time. He had a son, KIT CARSON IV,
who was a bit younger than I. During a holiday celebration,
possibly Memorial Day 1926, a feature was a stagecoach
drive to the site of Bent's Fort, several miles East of
La Junta. The Fort was re-constructed later. KIT CARSON IV
was selected to be the passenger on the ride.
I no longer live in that area, but perhaps if you inquire there
you will get some help. La Junta is in Otero County.
Hope this helps. Jack Gilliland
