The town reports were an invaluable resource for me, giving me birthdates and death dates, marriages, maiden names, etc. They also gave me a snapshot of what his family did when. School reports were also in them. I loved a phrase from one of the earliest ones:"Hoggs (sic.) were voted to roam freely on the green for the next year." I've been doing my tree for the past 15 years and still consider myself an amateur. I don't know whether states outside of New England have this resource available, but if they do, they helped me immensely. Joyce Hollenbeck
