Bill

What's become of us? Well, we want someone else to do all the work, for one thing.

OK, not really, not everybody, and not all the time. But to support your position, I have Norton, along
with Cox ISP, and today, with five addresses receiving mail, I had only 4 in the spam box, and two
(identical) to the address I use only for genealogy (this address). While I was gone for two weeks, I
think I got maybe 40 spam.

Due to the fact that at one time I had ignorantly loosed my e-ddress (from another ISP) on the world, I
finally had to cancel all the e-ddresses with the old ISP and keep only the Cox addresses. Over time, this
may require tweaking, but it works for now.

Some of these folk may need to push their ISPs to put up better shields, and/or take the time and energy
to changes ISPs, and/or use Norton or some other good anti-spam program that does not require
"validation."

I also get annoyed when someone asks me specifically for some help, then won't accept my e-mail.

As to your wannabe correspondent, if she is reading this:

"Gosh, golly, darn, sweetie, how do you expect him to respond? Put the address you are sending to in your
"good guy" file *before* you send an e-mail. Or, and I think this is possible, tell your anti-spam to
accept e-mail from any address you send to."

|I answered a request yesterday morning, from a young lady
|seeking information on her DOTY kin from 1700. I wish I could
|have stayed on line for the rest of the day - waiting for the
|shocking news - that she does not except e-mails from anyone
|she does not recognize. There was also a caveat to her message
|that if I was willing to resend it, using the line furnished
|from her e-mail, she might have except it.
