Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: marriage certificate info?
Sender: roots-in@roots-l.rootsweb.com

I found a copy of a certificate for a marriage that took place in
Buffalo NY in 1835 in the pension file of a Civil War veteran. There
were no records kept at the County level and this one was the
certificate issued by the Catholic Church and provided to the
pensioner when he petitioned the US Gov't. for a pension for his
service in the Civil War. He had written to the church and the
priest provided a translation of it for the veteran. The original
record was in Latin.
