Most 56-year-olds wouldn't be. Do you have the names of any survivors that might appear in her obituary? Drew Smith ---- Drew- Actually the deaths of most 56 year olds WOULD be reported to SSA by the funeral home if the deceased had worked under covered employment. There could be a lump sum death payment due a surviving spouse and/or survivor benefits due surviving children or spouse. It is even possible that someone who died at 56 could have been receiving disability benefits from SSA prior to their death--there are many reason why the death would probably have been reported. Joan
