Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: wwii ration books - C C C
Sender: roots-in@roots-l.rootsweb.com

I don't know how the ration books of WW II can be used particularly
for genealogy, except they may indicate where a person was at the
time they were issued. I remember my girl friend and I were on
vacation and were traveling from Oklahoma to California in May 1942
and everyone had to register that day for the sugar ration book. We
happened to be driving thru Winslow AZ on that particular day and
stopped to register at a school house at noon and signed up. I never
spent more than a few hours in Winslow. I still have the cover of
the book.

I have about a dozen "left-over" books from that time frame for the
different products being rationed. Part of them are books that my
parents used .... some still have stamps left.

About all they have on them is a person's name ... and where the book
was issued, so I suppose that particular info would be of
significance to a researcher. People would have a hard time trying
to figure out why my books were registered in about a half dozen
different places. There's little else to find out if they looked for
me in any of those places as I didn't stay long in any of them.

As for C C C information - here's an interesting website:
