Subject: [ROOTS-L] Another way to orgznize and save photos, images, etc.

Last month I took a 350 page book of family genealogy to a reunion.
(The book had been created throught the Family Tree Maker software that I use) I had several months earlier contacted many cousins explaining what I was doing and that I wanted photos and documents and even stories e-mailed to be included in the book. One or two were very helpful in sharing very old documents and photos, etc.
When the book was given to one member of each family at the reunion (and this person could make a CD for the others to print a book from, etc.) I no sooner returned home, then I had more family stories, photos and documents e-mailed to me and cousins asking if I could enter it and reprint the book for next reunion.
So, what I am saying, is that ones who did not seem interested perked up and did show interest once they saw a book with all the family photos, documents, etc in one "place". The book was 350 pages (used only print on one side of paper). I put it into a 2" notebook and put the cover photo into the plastic sleeve on the front.

I think having all your records in a book and organized under individuals or the oldest person of a surname is a good way to save & organize information including articles, etc.Of course, it is on your hard drive also - and you can put a copy of the CD in a safe deposit box.

Using the FTM software to make a book is so easy and definitely user friendly. So if you have this software, you may want to try it -save your photos, images from online like census images, etc. into individual's scrapbook and the book practically creates itself. It also will print your indvidual's notes. ( I have nothing to do with the FTM company and am not a salesman, etc.). Lynne in Texas
