Subject: [ROOTS-L] WRHS Hosts Polish Seminar

WRHS to Host Polish Genealogical Seminar

Two outstanding speakers will present a Polish genealogical seminar at the
Western Reserve Historical Society Library on Sunday, October 8, 2006.
Registration begins at noon; the seminar from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Polish Immigration to America and Northeastern Ohio. John Grabowski, PhD.,
Director of Research, The Western Reserve Historical Society; and
Krieger-Mueller Associate Professor of Applied History, Case Western Reserve
University, will present a historical overview of the immigration of Poles
to America, with a focus on why and how they settled in Cleveland. He will
also discuss the special resources for Polish genealogical research that are
available at the WRHS Library.

Researching Polish Roots with Home Sources and in Poland. Ceil Jensen, CG,
a national genealogical lecturer, will discuss researching your Polish roots
using home sources and records available in the United States. She also will
relate her experiences in researching her own family history and suggest how
to prepare for and undertake a research trip to Poland and surrounding
regions.

The Genealogical Committee is pleased to be able to sponsor two people with
such vast Polish research background.

Cost is $30 for WRHS members; $35 for non-WRHS members. There is a $5 late
fee for reservations at the door or those received after October 2nd. For
more information contact Wally Huskonen (440) 526-1238 or Registrar, Nancy
Leinweber (440) 205-1942.

The Western Reserve Historical Society is located at 10825 East Blvd.,
Cleveland, Ohio. The Genealogical Committee is a working auxiliary of the
Western Reserve Historical Society whose purpose is to further the study of
genealogy through meetings, lectures, seminars, and workshops; and to
provide financial support in the acquisition of appropriate materials and
equipment for the genealogical collections of the Society's Library.
