Subject: [ROOTS-L] Quackenbush

Hi Shirley - I have also been digging into the Quackenbush history (this
family comes into our family history through a brother-in-law). So far I've
gained quit a bit of their history but have not run across your David (b.
1839 in New York). The Quackenbush family I've been dealing with comes
through Albany, New York so I suspect we are dealing with the same folk. I
haven't included some of the branches that extended from the trunk I was
interested in but may be able to provide a few clues with what I have if you
are interested.

It looks to me like they left Oestgest, Holland in the mid 1650's - I find
children beginning to be born in Albany in 1658. This was an early family
It looks like Pieter Quackenbosch, born 1614 in Holland was the head of the
American family. Looks like they were brick makers in Albany with a good
deal of success. For some reason he is also referred to as Peter Bont or
Bout. They may have been some involved in "the Colony of Renselaerswyck".
I know nothing about this colony but would like to learn what is available
on this colony.

I am interested in communicating with others researching the Quackenbush
history. Looks like they were very early immigrants to our country.
