Subject: [ROOTS-L] Sofield/Dimmick

My name is Audrey Sofield/Barber and have done my genealogy back to and 
beyond the Civil War. My great grandfather, Capt. Alfred J. Sofield died on 
the first day of Gettysburg as a Union Soldier.

Back in Wellsboro city in the County of Tioga, PA he was chosen to be a 
recruiter.  One of the men whom he recruited was Edwin Dimmick, a private, 
in august of 1862.   Ironically they were killed together on McPherson's 
farm on July 1, 1863 at about 11AM. My gg left a wife and many children, one 
of whom was my grandfather, who at the time was only 2 years old.  I grew up 
with that grandfather, never having known his history.  Anyway Dimmick also 
left a wife and children. I am trying to contact anyone who may be an 
ancestor of Edwin Dimmick. If anyone has any clues, please let me know. My
