Subject: [ROOTS-L] Email - PeoplePC spaminator

In a message dated 10/10/2006 11:50:51 A.M. Pacific Standard Time,
ROOTS-L-request@rootsweb.com writes:

PeoplePC spaminator

I get this too from people in my neighborhood watch list. It is some kind
of program the person has on their computer that blocks all unknown mail
rather than putting your email into a spam folder, - or perhaps that's where it
goes unless you go into the program using the link provided so that they will do
what they have to do to read your email.

I don't know why people do that who are genealogy buffs, particular if they
post something to the list, but they do. All you can do, in that case, if
they don't accept your email address for personal delivery of your message, is
to post your response to the list and do your corresponding that way. While
everything you write then becomes "public", at least that way they will get
your response because they have signed up on the list and gets the digest mode
at a minimum. They would have to change their spam controls, I would think,
if they chose to get everyone's mail to the list as individual messages,
which means everybody's email to the list would be blocked by this spam control.

It is annoying, but I suppose if we want to communicate directly with that
individual, we have to jump through their hoops, or just respond to the list
every time for anybody and avoid these spam controls!
