Hmmm, it should be...but try this instead:

Send a new email to FTM-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM
In the subject line and text area, type SUBSCRIBE

The list can be found by going to Rootsweb's main page (http://www.rootsweb.com) 
and scrolling down until you see "Mailing Lists" on the left side of the screen. 
  Click on "Index."  On the next page, scroll down until you see "Other."  In 
that box, click on "Software."  The next page will take you to the types you can 
access, including "FTM."  Click on that and it will generate a screen to send a 
subscription request.
