Subject: [ROOTS-L] Death reporting to SS
Sender: roots-in@roots-l.rootsweb.com

I had to provide information to two funeral homes for death
certificates, one in Arkansas in 1977 and the other in Oklahoma in
1993. I asked if I should notify Social Security, but both directors
told me they were required to report the deaths to Social Security.

I don't know if this is a requirement nationwide or not. Neither of
my parents names are on the SSDI....both died in Kansas, one in 1967
and the other in 1977. All four of these people were drawing SS
benefits.
