If you know the state and regiment that your gt gt uncle served in you can
get a copy of his Compiled Military Service Record from the National
Archives. The National Archives' website gives information about what can
be found in these records and how to order them. The website is located at
http://www.archives.gov/genealogy/military/civil-war/. If you don't know
which unit he served with you can look him up at The Civil War Soldiers and
Sailors System (CWSS) at http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm

Also on the same site there is a database for Andersonville Prison but I
couldn't find a listing for Daniel Langford there. The database is located
at http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/prisoners.htm. According to one source I
checked, The Encyclopedia of the American Civil War, Andersonville received
its first prisoners on February 25, 1864.
