Subject: [ROOTS-L] Ripple

I am searching for the roots of the name Ripple.  Some of the family felt it was Irish, some thought German.  If anyone knows the source, please let me know.  I only know my great grandfather lived in Pittsburgh Pa., went down the Ohio, up the Mississippi to Bellevue Ia. & settled on a farm near Maquoketa, Iowa.  I have a lot of information on the family after they got to Maquoketa but nothing before then.  Any information would be appreciated.  Darlene (Ripple) Kenison
