Subject: [ROOTS-L] HOOKS of DE & PA

I was going to subscribe to the HOOK list, but when I browsed it just now,
it has been 2 yrs since anyone submitted something, so I'm hoping to have
luck by the ROOTS list instead. I have been researching this family for
nearly 10 yrs, and am totally dead-ended. My 5x ggf was allegedly an "Alban"
HOOK, b ca 1760, but *not* the Rev Alban HOOK of Chester Co, PA. My gf
married Hannah FRYER and they had 3 children of whom I am aware, and it is
possible the Rev Alban HOOK b ca 1791, could be a son as well, because his
age is within keeping of the other children: Percifer/Persifor, b ca 1795,
my 4x ggm, Orpha, b 1800, and an Abraham, bd unknown. I have no data
whatsoever on Abraham. He may have moved to OHIO with his FRYER connections.
(They were Methodists, not Quaker.) I pretty much have the available data
about Orpha and my direct line, thanks to the Chester and Delaware County
lists and connections I made thru them, but it is Persifer/Persifor/Percifor
for whom I am now looking to make connections.

Persifer HOOK married an Elizabeth ______ and moved to Wilmington, New
Castle Co, DE ca 1837. In 1850, they had 2 children, Waldron, b 1820,
Minerva, b 1822, living at home, along with Minerva's husband, Alfred Fulton
WALTON, b 1820 and who was a druggist. They were married 27 Dec 1849, the
census was done on July 15, 1850 and Minerva and Alfred have no children.

In 1870, Percifor is 74 and he is living in the household of one Ebenezer
CRAWFORD and his wife Mahala. Percifor was a shoemaker, and Ebenezer is also
a shoemaker. The relationship to my uncle is unknown to me.

In 1860, Alfred WALTON and my cousin, "Mary" Minerva, are still living in
Wilmington and they have 3 children: James, b 1855, Alfred, Jr, b 1857, and
an unnamed child [Charles], b Apr of 1860. by 1870, they have Virginia, b
1864.By 1880, James has married a Cecilia _________ and they have a 1 yo
Alfred.

In 1860, Waldron HOOK has married a Mary E. ________ and they are also in
Wilmington. Their children are Mary E, b 1853, Persifor, b 1856 and Henry, b
1859. In 1870 we also now have Emma, b 1861, William, b 1864 and Alfred, b
1866. Waldron is listed as a restaurant keeper. In 1880, he is erroneously
listed as Waldson. His occupation is Druggist and he has moved to Phila. and
all of his children are within the home.

In 1900, Alfred W. HOOK is now a druggist in Phila, and has married a Clara
M. ______. They have Howard H, b 1890 and Eloise M, b 1893. In 1920, Alfred
and Clara have moved to Pittsburgh.

In 1930, Howard H HOOK has married Lydia ______. and they are also in
Pittsburgh. They have Howard, Jr, b 1915 and Helen E, b 1917. Howard, Sr
died in FL in 1969.

If anyone has knowledge of these two familes, I surely would appreciate you
contacting me and we can exchange info.
