You stated that Cyprian was your cousin. I have the portrait that I am trying to date and wondered if you would still be interested in seeing it? Also, I have printed something off of RootsWeb entitled: Hertford county, NC - John Vann Papers North Carolina State Archives - Private Manuscript Collections COLLECTION: VANN, John, Papers - 1817 - 1911 Hertford County; Gates County; Bertie County PC. 122-1-5 What I have printed references JESSE R. CROSS'S Account Book, birth and death records of the CROSS family...and, CROSS Family Slaves (1775 - 1827). Do you have any of this information and/or do you have access to the NC Archives? Per what I have gathered thus far, it appears that Cyprian and Edna had Slaves including the period of 1839 - 1865. I would love to see what the papers might reveal about my lineage.
