Subject: [ROOTS-L] RE: look-up please

ANSWER TO BELOW:

Ann,
There are a lot of John Fischer/Fischer in those censuses. You neglected to
state his approximate year of birth nor where you found him in those census
years.

The 1900 and 1910 censuses, at least, should have shown the year of
immigration.

Even with access to immigration records we need to know: His approximate
year of birth; if anyone else would have come with him i.e. wife, children,
parents, sibling; about when he immigrated i.e. if children were born in the US
and when and where.

Immigration data: There are a total of over 1,500 for John Fisher and almost
500 for John Fischer. That is in Ancestry.com alone. This would not include
Ellis Island, Castle Gardens or many other listings that are out there.

You might want to resend your message stating his year of birth, wife's name
and birth information and his known children and their years and places of
birth. Plus where he was located in what census years.
Gretchen
