many thanks to everyone who checked the census and cleared up the 
confusion-and for the information on how to download a picture of it and 
tweek it until it's readable.
it was IRE I couldn't read-it didn't really look like anything on my screen. 
just some jiggly lines and then English.
I have to agree that the wife's place of birth is wrong. I happen to know 
she was b. Feb 1877 Iowa, so it wasn't Ireland. the Moffitt family was in 
Iowa at least as early as 1856, having come from MA.
