Subject: [ROOTS-L] wise descendant

I am still researching my Wise surname.  I was wondering, supposedly Benjamin 
Wise was left on a doorstep of the Cuthbertson family, if this is just a nice 
way that people would let people know that they are caring for a relative, 
neighbors, friends child?  I really can't believe that babies were left on 
doorsteps and maybe it was a common phrase at the time, I am researching the late 
1700's.  Again I am finding errors in family trees not closely related, and I 
have spent about 60 hours plus finding a relationship of Calvin Wise to Henry 
Wise, info. that I found on a family tree of an unknown submitter.  There is a 
book out there written by William Cuthbertson I would like to get a copy of.
