Subject: [ROOTS-L] RE: Father and son have different surnames

ANSWER TO BELOW:

Nick,
You didn't mention any names so couldn't check. If the marriage was in 1852
you should be in luck since Ancestry has the 1851 Census on line. It might
give some kind of a clue.

You would need to send any names and approximate ages that you have that are
involved and more importantly (if a common name) the Shire in England where
they were found.

Subject: Father and son have different surnames

Could anybody explain this please.

I have a UK marriage certifcate dated 1852 which as usual, gives the names
of the fathers of both the bride and groom, but this one shows the son and
father having different surnames. Any ideas why this should be?

Thanks
