Subject: [ROOTS-L] Father and son have different surnames

Could anybody explain this please.

I have a UK marriage certifcate dated 1852 which as usual, gives the names
of the fathers of both the bride and groom, but this one shows the son and
father having different surnames. Any ideas why this should be?

Thanks
