We are likely all familiar with the 3 or 12 versions of any particular persons we find when searching GenCircles or WorldConnect or especially IGI -not counting same-name coincidences! (If we find anything). Your hypothetical new researcher will probably do what I do: compare the versions of truth. If I find an explanatory note in your tree like this: "Ethel's husband is given wrongly as Calvin H. Wise by some databases, but this is ...[transcription error or whatever]....", then the contest is all over. You could also post in the Wise forum at RootsWeb, subject "Wise-Mardis, married 1890", asking for "info on family of Ethel Mardis and Hutsel (or Henry) C. Wise, who may be known as Calvin Wise". Your purpose here, not to get info you already have on Ethel and Henry (although you might be pleasantly surprised!), but to cast a wider net for that hypothetical new researcher. The nature of the Internet is such that you couldn't hope to do better when fighting an anonymous or unresponsive tree-poster. Also note that that you can attach a so-called "post-it note" to someone else's data at GenCircles or WorldConnect -I forget which. Probably not helpful to you. Someone did that to my data, and they were right, so I corrected my mistake. A thought: I have a distant relation who in fact changed his name, to avoid the Junior problem, from Edward Clarence Kern to Clarence E. Kern.
