Subject: [ROOTS-L] correction

I apologize but I misspelled the website for the Military Personnel Records,
the correct one is:http://vetrecs.archives.gov. (underscore) You can also
reach them, Military Personnel Records, 9700 Page Avenue St. Louis, Missouri
63132-5100. Their number is 314-801-0800. I have another issue I wanted to
address. I have found some trees that have incorrect info. For example I have
in the last year found out that my great grandfather is Henry Cal or Hutsel
C. Wise, I have reason to believe he was married several times, but I do know
for a fact that he was married to Ethel Mardis in Nebraska. I found a
particular tree that has Ethel married to Calvin H. Wise. The submitter was
unknown. My question is, how does one go about giving out the correct info? I
hate the thought of a new researcher being led on a wild goose chase. I don't
know where these people have come up this info. I have been checking
everything and have found nothing connecting Calvin with Ethel. I am not sure what
to do at this point, I can notify Ancestry, but don't think they can remove
the wrong info. I am spending a lot of time on this, I am kind of upset
because the person who submitted the wrong info. obviously wasn't a direct line or
didn't devote any time in making sure the info. was backed up by fact. I
will admit I have at times connected a family member with the same name only to
find out later that I was wrong. I am barely working on third generation,
because I keep going over and over the info. to make sure I am right.
Especially with common names like my gggrandfather George W. Brown. I like
researching other families with the same names but I want to devote my time to my
"block walls." Thanks for letting me vent, Rebecca Bral Bonacci, in Az.
