Essentially, the records of someone who lived through the war consist of copies of the muster roll, which said he was present between certain dates in a given unit at a specific grade - all so he could be paid. If he applied for a pension, you get information regarding his wife and children, not his parents. Try on line for state information regarding the 72nd. I would expect there to be a fair amount. Betty
