On microfilm I saw in the Hannover Gazette (Hanover, PA) dated 4 June 1829: " . . . Starb: Gestern vor acht Tagen, ungefahr 8 [?]Residenz von dieser Stadt, hr. Martin Carl, in einem Alter von 81 Jahr, 2 Monat und 7 Tagen. Lessten Donnerstag wurden seine entseelten Ueberreste aufden hiesigen lutherischen Kirchhof zur Ruhe gebracht, den welcher Geigenheit [Gleichnis?] der Ehrm. hr. Ruthrauff uber [umblaus on the 'u'] den Text, Iesaia 55, V. 5-6 die Leichenrede hielt." " . . . Died: Yesterday a week ago, approximately 8 [?yrs,months,days?] a resident of this city, Mr. Martin Carl, at the age of 81 Years, 2 Months and 7 Days. Last Thursday his mere mortal remains minus his soul were brought to rest in the local Lutheran Churchyard [St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover?], of which parable Honorable Rev. Ruthrauff chose the text, Isaiah 55, verses 5-6, delivering a discourse addressing the attendees about the living and the dead corpses [a resurrection theme]."
