Phil,

Here are some of your options:

Head over to www.familysearch.org to find the Canadian 1881 census. It
is searchable in many ways if you go directly to the Search tab and then
click census on the left. Make sure to only search the Canadian census.

You can also type ARCHIVIANET into your web browsers location line and
the Canadian Governments website for genealogical studies comes up. This
is where you can find the images for Land Grants & Census for 1901, 1906
(western canada) and 1911. Also immigration records for 1925 - ?....

If you don't feel like looking through images, head over to
www.automatedgenealogy.com to take a look at the transcriptions for the
1901,1906 & 1911 census. 1911 is not as completely translated as the
other two.

Also, if you would like to try and find a family or town history book
with their names or information in it, head over to www.ourroots.ca
where the Canadian government has been posting images of books that are
no longer under copyright or are family/town histories.

OR you can send along the names you are talking about and we can help
you scour the internet for details.

Hope this helps,
    Paulette
