MARRIED - MULKEY - MARTIN - April 23, 1884, at the residence of the bride's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. James MARTIN, near Zion, Mr. J.E. MULKEY of St. Louis and
Miss Alice C. MARTIN, of Jefferson County.
There were near a hundred guests present to welcome the happy pair to
their start in life. The ceremony was performed by Rev. W.H. GARDENHIRE, and
the attendants were Dr. MOCKBEE and Miss Jessie GREEN, and John KEENEY and Miss
Lizzie MARTIN. The wedding supper was fine and the guests had a very
enjoyable time. The bride and groom were the recipients of numerous valuable
presents. The roads were too bad for a man in our crippled condition, and hence we
had to forego the pleasures of attending.

WEDNESDAY, 7 MAY 1884

Jessie M., infant child of Mackie and Ella MINOR of Hematite, died, aged
three months and one day.

LICENSED TO MARRY - Oscar H. SWEENEY and Anna E. ELLIS, George R. FOSTER and
Ella J. FINDLAN, Alexander LAFOON and Mamie RUSSELL, Henry W. MAUPIN and Anna
E. REED.

We learn that Mrs. George EDINGER - formerly of Antonia and now of Jefferson
county, Colorado, - recently presented her husband with a son; but that God,
in his wisdom called the babe to that celestial home we all desire to live in
someday.

The preliminary trial of John GUENZLING, before 'Squire HONEY, last Friday,
resulted in the defendant being held in a bond of $400 for his appearance at
Circuit court. Anna STAAT, the prosecuting witness, was present with her baby
and told a pretty fair story, which coroborated to some extend by her brother
and sister-in-law. The defendant produced some witnesses to break down the
character of the prosecutor, who left a very bad impression for themselves on the
public mind. W.H.H. THOMAS made a vigorous defense, while Prosecuting
Attorney GREEN made one of the best efforts of his life for the prosecution. The
case was a prosecution for seduction under promise of marriage.

We are glad to learn of C. Tho. HORINE's success in getting $850 as a
pension from the government, for injuries received during the late rebellion.

George F. HAMEL returned last Thursday from his trip to New Orleans and a
