KY. volunteers in Mexican War I am looking for information regarding the Clark County Kentucky volunteers, organized and commanded by Captain John Stuart Williams ("Cerro Gordo" Williams), during the Mexican War. My ggggrandfather ROBERT T. SHANKS (born 1799, location unknown) supposedly left Clark Co. KY. in 1846/7, to participate in the Mexican War. He may possibly have driven wagons for the volunteers rather than being an actual soldier. He appears to have abandoned his family (wife JANE BOWLES SHANKS) and 7 children to go on this adventure. Nothing is known of him after this time. He is a very large brick wall, so am hoping to track down any information on this group. Thanks Dolores
