Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: ROOTS-L Digest V06 #263

I do not know whether your
question was for anyone to
answer or not. I decided to do
so as this is a real issue with
me.
Before the internet got going
(or I knew much about it) I
gave someone information on my
family lines right down to my
grandchild - being so dumb as
to think it would be used only
in her family sheets. The next
thing I knew, all this
information was staring me in
the face on a website (via
GEDCOM) with everyone living
included. My demand that it
be taken down was met but not
beofre she had sent the GEDCOM
to someone else. It was not on
RootsWeb or Ancestry.com. With
identity theft, I think it is
dangerous to have living people
listed and know for sure that
it is an invasion of privacy.
