Hi Bill Loucks, I am related to the BEAR family from York Co., PA. I saw on the message board of Rootsweb.com dated 4 Mar. 2002 the family tree –headed by Abraham Blaser (Blosser). I read with great interest the information about Barbara Bear (b. Abt 1716-Cadoria Creek, York Co., PA). Did you mean to type CODORUS Creek? I don't know where CADORIA Creek is? Please let me know about this as I want to follow up on this family. Up until recently I had been following the Union Township, Adams Co. Bear/Bair families. At the Adams Co. Courthouse in Gettysburg, PA I found the following reference in Register of Deaths Vol I. 1893---1900 page 280: " . . . Date of Record Dec. 17, 1897 Name of Deceased Weisensale Susanna White Female Age[:] 79 yrs. Married Place of Birth[:] York Co. Pa. Occupation[:] Housekeeper Date of Death[:] Aug. 23, 1897 Place of Death[:] Conewago twp. Cause of Death[:] Old age Duration of last Illness[:] 2 wks. Place of Interment[:] Bords Church [Bart's] Date Aug. 25, 1897 Name of Father [missing] Name of Mother [missing] . . ." Susanna (Bear) Weisensale is my paternal great- great-great grandmother. This is the first concrete piece of evidence that she's from York Co. Do you know Barbara BEAR's parents? any more of her siblings? Where did they live in York Co.? in the village of BAIR? Susanna was illiterate. One of her children's middle initials was "I." I believe that might stand for Isaac. Her baptism in 1818 is recorded in St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA. I made a photocopy of it. Her parents are listed as Georg Baer and Cathar. >From a wedding record I found, I believe that she is Catharina Lohr. There is a Lohr's Methodist Church in Hanover that was undergoing construction last yr.; however, I think it is complete now. Maybe her family are connected to this church?
