Subject: [ROOTS-L] Gray

This is a query regarding the English possibly gypsy/Romany name Goliath
Gray.  We have at least two men in the family with this name. All the
information relates to England.
The first was born about 1789-90 and  bapt at St Philip and St Jacob parish,
Bristol, Gloucester. He married Sarah Camplin on Oct 2 1810 at St James
Church Bristol.
 His son Goliath Gray was baptised on 22 Oct 1815 at St Philip and St Jacob,
Bristol and he married Elizabeth Fox at St Leonard, Shoreditch Middlesex on
April 13 1834.  This Goliath Gray died in the first weeks of September
1849.
His daugher Emma Elizabeth Gray was born on November 29 1818 possibly in
Shoreditch and was baptised on July 22 1840 at St John the Baptist,
Shoreditch London.  She married William Platt in 1842 at Hackney
Middlesex.

Goliath Gray bapt 1815 was a shoe/boot repairer and his daughter Emma Eliza
was a vendor of second hand shoes/boots at 113 St Peters Street Boot Shop,
London Middlesex England.

I would be very grateful if any illumination could be shed on these people
and in particular whether Goliath Gray is of a romany/gyspy family.
