I've learned some additional information about the 8th Confederate Cavalry 
that might be helpful in your search.  The 8th Confederate Cavalry was a 
different unit than the 8th Alabama Cavalry. The 8th Confederate Cavalry was 
so named be cause it had men from both Mississippi and Alabama in it.  For a
