Several teachers at my school have had their students do a genealogy
project. One thing you might try is to see if any of the schools in
your area have any after-school programs. Mine has several; a few
school-sponsored events like a mentor-tutor program where older
students mentor younger ones, and we have a few programs sponsored by
outside agencies that occur at our school. Often these type of
programs have more leeway in scheduling activities than classroom
teachers do, since they have so many state standards to meeet with
their lesson plans. Often teachers can work genealogy into these
standards, but only when it relates to lessons already established.
