Subject: [ROOTS-L] Oral History Of Father

I don't usually post, but I have just started something that may be helpful to others who are not computer savy. I wanted a way to record an oral history from my father, who is now 90 years old. I found a very easy and inexspensive program for $24.95 that allowed me to record in wav. or MP3 files. I set up my laptop with a microphone and started looking at old pictures of the family. It was wonderful to capture not only the stories about my father's life, but to hear it in his words.

I don't consider myself very knowleable about computers, so if I can do this, anyone can. With the recent disasters, I was afraid to just get it in writing. This way I can make several copies and also share with my brother, who lives several states away. I hope others are also doing this. This may not be new to anyone else, but it is a great experience for me.

Thanks,
Pam
