Subject: [ROOTS-L] Old Man's Draft--1942

Many wrote to me off list that the older men who were found in both WWI and
WWII draft records were used as support for the young fighting soldiers. I
still wondered about the burst of patriotism that certain men in my family
showed.
Just today I received a post that said it was an official draft. The 4th
draft of 1942 is known as The Old Man's Draft and can be interpreted as a
listing of older men with skills that were needed to keep the young men on the
front. .

So I won't puzzle anymore why my old timers were on both WWI and WWII
records (or even wonder if it was a mistake) now that I understand it was an
official draft.
