Indiana has tightened up. I wanted a death certificate for my uncle who
died in 1951. They gave me a cerificate BUT refused to specify WHAT he died
of. I had to have a near relative request for the "cause". The nearest
relative was my 89 year old father, brother to the deceased. Dad had to
have a copy of his driver's license and a letter signed by himself sent to
the State of IN before the state would release the cause of death. I
thought the whole thing rather dumb! Dad really wanted to know the official
cause of his brother's death so we went thru with the whole procedure.
