Corse, Wilmington, Del., 1840's About thirty years ago, I purchased a group of Stampless Covers. These items were mailed before prepaid mail was required in the United States. The common practice was to fold, two attached letters sized sheets, twice horizontally and vertically. One of the resulting rectangles was left blank, for the address and amount of postage due, the rest was used for the letter. The person who received the mail had to pay the postage. I no longer collect this type of material and would be happy to place the letters with a relative of Miss Mary Corse at my cost.
