Subject: [ROOTS-L] Memories 'Round The Mill

¡°The Paul Odle Legacy¡± Now Available At Yukon¡¯s Mabel C. Fry Public Libraty

Now available at the Mabel C. Fry Public Library is the most recent publication of one of Yukon¡¯s favorite authors, Paul Odle.

The three- volume work, titled The Paul L. Odle Legacy 1509-2005, promises to be a real page-turner.

In his preface, the author states this work endeavors to recount the authentic history of Nicholas Wahull/Odell and his descendants.

The idea for the work came from a lifetime desire of Paul to trace his family roots as far back as possible. At first it started as a fun project and got more serious as time passed.

The legacy publication did not come to Odle without frustration. In 2001, Odle¡¯s computer failed and he lost a database of 95,000 relatives. The loss represented seven years of typing and 50 year of research.

One can only imagine how pleased he was after purchasing a new

computer and typing the stories back into the database that he was able to complete the publication. The preface of the book elaborates on other problems he encountered during the writing.

His praise is expressed for the help he received from some of his relatives including his daughter, Joyce Mintzas, who made numerous trips from Arlington, Texas, to help him complete his dream.

Odle was born and raised in Yukon and has been a resident. Many Yukon Review readers will recognize his name from his writings entitled ¡°Memories ¡®Round The Mill¡¯ on the editorial page of the paper.

Odle has been a resident of the Lawton/Ft. Sill Veterans Retirement Center for the past two years.

Other books by Paul include Meet the Halladays. The Tice Pioneers, No Time For Tears, The Bible Story, Daniel Boone and You, The Wagner Family, The Riggs Family Issue, and The Greenly Girls. Odle also writes stories for the magazine ¡°Prairie Lore,¡± a Southwestern Oklahoma Historical Society publication.

This story appeared in the Yukon Review Wednesday May 31, 2006 on page 3. The story was written by Sue Kilmer, Head Librarian of the Mable Fry Library in Yukon, Oklahoma.

There was a picture above the article that read; Paul Odle, author of ¡°the Paul Odle Legacy¡± - Vols. 1,11,111, presents books to Mabel C. Fry Library head librarian Sue Kilmer and Yukon¡¯s Venita Shannon. Shannon is Odle¡¯s longtime friend.
