Subject: [ROOTS-L] Fred rick H York,b Maine,1st wife

Hello Searchers... DNA tests show a relationship between my father and his
foster parent Fredrick H York who was born Naples Maine,s/o Samuel and
Eunice York,c 1832-34 and is with his parents in 1850 census at Naples. He
is not found again until 1880 census in Otisfield Maine with son Uriah, age
18,wife[2nd]Kate,and son Charles age 1 year.Word of mouth says he had
several other sons b at Otisfield by a first wife, one being an
Eben.Otisfield records do not show anything on this family nor do nearby
towns. As my father is thought to have been a grandson of Fredrick York I
would welcome any info on the first family. The second Wife's children were
too young to have been his father as he was b 1890 in Buckfield
ME.Possibilies are that Mr York's son by the first wife or another
relationship is involved as my father was born a Smith with supposed parents
both being Smith descendants. As I have searched vital records in Maine with
no results I think any possible answers may be found in family records. Will
be very thankful for ant tidbits available. Regards Ida Kretschmar...Deep in
the heart of Texas!!
