Subject: [ROOTS-L] Finding Ancestry World , correcting OWT & questions

I think someone told how to get to the free "Ancestry World Tree" (AWT)
from Ancestry in the new setup, but I cannot find the message. I realize it
is much easier to get to the database on www.rootsweb.com and click under
WorldConnect "search family trees". That is my recommendation to people
generally looking for the large shared database.

Today I had a different purpose. I actually wanted to find a particular
person's database for which I did not succeed.

To test the new format, I decided to check out my gggg grandfather
Robert HAWKINS b. Derby, CT in 1729. I have done original research on this
family and know my conclusions as to dates and places correct. I found the
historical records for the name I was searching through the global search,
and then went to Family Trees on the next tab where the only choice was the
One World Tree (OWT).

When I looked at Robert HAWKINS information on OWT there were yellow
triangles on every fact with alternates, with most alternate information
incorrect. I and a few other researchers have had the correct information
online about 10 years and most of the details are in newer version of a
HAWKINS genealogy.

Anyway I wanted to go from the information on OWT to the individual
trees to determine where the information came from. After trial and error I
was able to access the individual trees, but my database was not among them,
even through it has been submitted through WorldConnect. I still could not
determine the submitters of the information in the yellow triangles. Is
this possible?

I next decided to change the death date since most submitters have the
date for death on the tombstone which is off by almost 2 years. I have the
correct date in a diary of a grandson recorded at the time of Robert Hawkins
death. However, when I wanted to comment to the users about the correct
information, the explanation indicates the most popular date is what is
accepted. I could only click to vote and could not explain. How can one
put ANY FAITH in what is here in OWT if the most popular rather than what is
proved reigns? Twenty wrong submissions versus one correct one do not make
the wrong date correct!

But back to my original question, how does one get EASILY to Ancestry
World Tree from the Ancestry side. One would think it should be on the tab
for Family Trees right next to the OWT access. Unless I am missing the
obvious, I think we users should advocate to have it put there.
