Subject: [ROOTS-L] International Databases

Although I'm not new to genealogy, I'm new to a lot of the online databases.
Are there international genealogy databases for all countries on the
Internet? I've checked One World Tree - but are there others, perhaps
requiring a paid subscription. A friend told me that there is an
international database with an annual charge of over $300. Anyone know
anything about this?
