Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: Subject used in post not used on list

That replacement subject line can also occur when the writer hits "Reply"
for their message, but fails to change the subject line. That will generate the
subject line of the ROOTS-L mail from where it originated. Therefore one
should always check their outgoing message, not only for accuracy of their own
message, but also to ensure that the subject matter is what they mean to say.

I noticed when my query was posted, the subject line, "Alabama children's
Homes" was replaced with " Subject: Re: ROOTS-L Digest V06 #304". Don't know
how this happens but could solve the mystery as to how so many are coming to
you incorrectly. The title of this post is: "Subject used in post not used
on list".

Realizing the importance of the subject line, it is mere stupidity to use
the receiver's name in this area rather than the topic being queried.
