Delores,
You did not mention Alvina Hoffman's maiden name so don't know if you have  
it.
 
However, thanks to the obit and the fact that several censuses state that  
Alvina's father was born in Switzerland and her mother in Germany I found Alvina 
 and her parents and siblings in the 1880 Census.
