Subject: [ROOTS-L] Copyriight Laws
Sender: roots-in@roots-l.rootsweb.com

Copyright laws are extremely complex due to the fact no words are original, just their combination and intended meaning. Therefore, attorneys specialize in this field of law. The only way to determine, for certain, if copyright infringement has occurred is to seek the advice a competent attorney and more often then not, if "that" complex, the case can go to court for final judgment.

This can be expensive, sooooo, consider your action carefully unless you have money to burn. In cases such as these, I always suggest one consider the brass ring to be won - is it worth the time, expense, effort and new grey hair to be gained?

In case you are interested, Webster's New World Dictionary - Thesaurus defines copy-right as "the exclusive right to the publication, production, or sale of the rights to a literary, dramatic, musical, or artistic work, or to the use of the commercial print or label, granted by law for a specified period of time to an author, composer, artist, distributor, etc.: symbol (c)."
